An in-line water filter is a type of a Point-of-Use (POU) filter such as a water filter system for use in refrigerators having water dispenser and/or icemaker features. In-line water filters are either installed with the main water supply that serves cold water in the kitchen faucet or are installed on the feed line to the refrigerator or icemaker. Additionally, inline filters can be used for coffee machines, drinking fountains, and drink dispensers. In-line water filters are a highly efficient and discreet way to filter drinking water. Inline filters save surface space in the kitchen and require minimum maintenance and replacement cartridge costs. Figure 1 below shows typical installation of in-line water systems.

- Cartridges are sanitary in design, requiring no contact with the filter media during cartridge change-out

- 3M™ Aqua-Pure™ In-Line Water Filter System AP717The AP717 in-line water filter systems are designed with specially formulated adsorption activated carbon media to help provide reduction of undesirable chlorine taste and odor issues. The system is designed with premium performance depth pre-filter for high sediment reduction efficiency and longer cartridge life than the IL-IM-01 product. It includes scale inhibition media to help protect equipment and ice makers against scale build-up. The model is NSF/ANSI Std. 42 certified for Chlorine Taste & Odor. All the system materials are FDA CFR-21 compliant. Table below summarizes the product specifications for the AP717 system.
